I am finally posting our pictures from our fun 4th of July and anniversary weekend. Our anniversary is on the 6th, so it makes for a fun weekend, but with every place we want to go very crowded. We went to some local fireworks here on Saturday since we'd be gone on the 4th. They were amazing! I forget every year how much I love to go to firework shows. I'm so glad we went!
Sunday we went to church, and then left to go up to 1000 Islands, NY about 3 hours away. I have been wanting to go for a while so I was happy I talked Tyler into it. It's so beautiful up there!
We booked a campsite at Wellesley Island State park to save a bunch of money. It was a little crowded, but pretty posh for a campground. When we got there after setting up, we explored the state park a little, and went on a short hike in a nature center. It was pretty, but not conducive to hiking in flip flops (I thought it'd be a little less wild). We scoped out a few places to fish for the next day.
Since we were on an island, and had to pay $2.50 to get there, we had 2 choices of restaurants- one really ghetto, and one really really expensive. So, we chose the expensive one and YUM! Wow, it was so good, in such a charming little town and we got to sit out on the patio in the perfect weather. We went on a little walk afterwards and saw the most darling restored houses. The next day we went fishing, and by fishing I mean, Tyler fished while I sat on a rock in my swim suit trying to get sun and read Eclipse. This is Tyler's first fish he caught in New York.
Tyler had me reel in a fish too, although I don't know what I'm doing.
They were all so tiny! Tyler was like a little boy, each time he would yell, "I got a fish, I got a fish!!" He caught about 7 before I said time to be done. We hurried over to our campground's beach area to swim in the river (St. Lawerence). It was freezing! But after our screaming and whimpering getting in, it was very refreshing and the water is so clear. After that we hurried back to the mainland to go on a boat tour. It was the best part of the trip. It was 2 1/2 hours long, but we got to see so many islands, both US and Canadian. Most of the islands have houses on them and are privately owned by billionaires. This is us at the start of the tour. Too bad you can't even tell we're on a boat!

This is the smallest island named Tom Thumb. To be considered an island, it needs to be above water all year long and have at least 1 tree.
On the boat, and it was windy!
One of the islands is called Heart Island and has a castle on it. Of course, we are much to cheap to pay the extra $7 to go see inside and walk on the grounds, but it was cool. A guy built this for his wife in 1904, but unfortunately she died before it finished and construction stopped immediately and it sat for almost 75 years. It has since been renovated but remains unfinished. On our real anniversary Tyler started his 3rd year of med school, which meant he didn't get home until 7:30. He now has 2 weeks under his belt and is really enjoying working at the hospital. Most days so far he has gotten home between 7:00 and 7:30 pm, but surprised me twice this week by beating me home.

That sounds so fun! I'm glad you convinced Tyler to go there.
