This week I got into a car accident right by my house. There's this big, always crowded intersection where there is a wreck about once a week. I am always very careful, but this week, obviously not enough.
I was going straight through the light and after my light turned green, I waited for 3 cars to run their red light, then didn't see anyone else, so headed into the intersection. As I was just past halfway through, another car ran his red light (WAY late, I might add) and hit me hard. It was on the passenger side, so that was lucky. He bumped me over a lane and a half and I ended just a couple of feet from the median on the other side of the intersection. I am fine- no injuries but a sore shoulder from my seat belt. When I asked the other driver what he was doing because his light was red, he responded, "What? My light was red?" Seriously? Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive! He wasn't even paying attention, but just following the cars ahead of him.
My wheels were turned opposite directions, so my car had to be towed. My friend Traci was so nice to come pick me up, take me up to the hospital (20 minutes away) to get Tyler's car so I would be able to finish my classes for work. Thanks Traci!!
I've spent the rest of the week on the phone with both insurance companies and still they haven't decided liability yet. Apparently in New York, just the police accident report is not enough. The other driver's insurance company can't contact him to get his statement, so until they get it, we don't have a rental car, and my car can't start being fixed! Right now the estimate is only about $5,000 so we're just happy it didn't total our car!

Good luck with getting it fixed! Hopefully the other insurance gets a hold of their guy soon. It seems like an excuse more than anything... But I'm glad you were okay! And so glad he didn't hit the other side!
Bah! That's so scary! I hope everything works out okay. I'm REALLY glad you're doing well.
So glad you're safe! That happened to me once when I was alone (thank goodness). Same story. Silly girl didn't even realize her light was red and clipped me going 40. Also had an interesting time with insurance, so good luck getting your car fixed!
Oh, that was Amberly, not Beau. ;) Hate it when I forget who's signed in.
Oh my goodness, I just talked to you at church and you didn't tell me? I am so glad you are ok and I am so sorry that seriously stinks!
Oh no Rebe! I am thankful you were OK too. I hate stuff like that. I will pray that it will all be worked out honest for you. They really owe you a rental car and a fixed car! How do they not see that...sheesh. Call me if you need anything car, rides, anything at all, we are always here!
