Tyler was presenting at the AAOS conference down in San Diego, so we all tagged along for a fun vacation. Of course, Bridgette broke her arm 2 hours before we were planning on leaving, but we were still able to leave that night, just much later.
Tyler presented on Wednesday morning, and did a great job. I entertained the kids by myself and we headed to Balboa Park to explore. It wasn't quite as fun as I had hoped, but they still had fun. We saw some beautiful gardens, buildings and fountains. Their favorite thing was riding the green tram around. This was inside the greenhouse in front of hundreds of orchids.
Harrison kept running as fast as he could down this, laughing as the girls chased him back. It was part of an outdoor amphitheater.
Thursday Tyler was gone at conferences again, so I took the kids to a
new park on the beach with an awesome water fountain splash pad. It was
SO fun! They loved the unique park and swimming in the fountains. Penny and Harry loved playing in this giant cat statue. Very very silly!!
A broken arm can't stop this girl! And thank goodness it is waterproof!!
It's so cool it's right downtown with all the buildings.
Hotel for snacks, shows and silly faces! Seriously, Penny does her "stinky face" in every picture.
Friday we all went to the zoo together. The kids were at great ages to enjoy the zoo. Harrison had a fun time with the jaguar as it was pacing back and forth wanting to eat him.
Bridgette was adamant she wear this green dress for St. Patrick's Day, so she wore it to the zoo!
Harrison loved climbing the railings more than the animals and pointed out all the trucks driving around. Boys!
With the Panda. It's never quite as fun as you thought it'd be.
That night we ate downtown at a restaurant Tyler's friend from work owns. It was really yummy and a little swanky for our crowd but the kids loved it. Turns out, it's a club at night so in the other room was a GIANT disco ball with music that the kids danced in. So funny.
Harrison was a bit of a monster, with free range in a normal chair. He kept trying to climb onto the table to see the candle flame or get my water.
Bridgette and I both tried Daddy's sushi, but didn't like it. We did love the yummy steak and pork belly fried rice though!
Saturday we stopped in La Jolla to see the beautiful beach there and the seals that live there. It was absolutely gorgeous with the bright wildflowers everywhere and the blue ocean.
Stopping for a snack and view of the ocean. (Stinky face!!)
We were able to be only a few feet away from a mom and seal pup. So cute!!
So amazing they just sleep there and don't care people watch them.
We had a great time relaxing and hanging out together. Everyone slept well in the hotel somehow! Kids were really happy and overall well behaved. Success!!
