Toronto Trip!!

This past weekend, we went to Toronto for a little "spring" break trip. This upcoming week is Tyler's actual break, but since I have to work, we did a weekend trip instead. We had a lovely time and it was our first real vacation since the honeymoon. After consulting with my cousin Jaime (the expert on Toronto), we decided to go to the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario museum, and the Toronto Zoo.
Toronto here we come!!Entering Canada, we kind of got a kick out of driving in kilometers...This is the CN Tower, it's the 3rd tallest structure in the world at 1,815 feet.
The elevator takes you up to 1,136 feet in under 1 minute. Our ears were popping by the time we stopped! It was really cool, they have a glass floor to look over the city in. People were really freaked out to walk on it, but we thought it was awesome. You can't really tell, but we're laying down on the glass floor.
This is looking down from the glass floor. Pretty freaky huh?
You could see the entire city of Toronto from the tower.
At the top, they have a photographer available to take your picture and superimpose you really badly at the top of the tower. Here's one of their examples. I could not stop laughing and this picture alone is enough reason to never have them take your picture. Check out the old grandma, she's my favorite!

After that we tried to go to the museum on the other side of the city by subway, but we didn't exchange any money and they wouldn't take US dollars, so Tyler just told them we would walk. This would have been okay, but we walked from our hotel to the CN tower, about 1/2 mile, then once we got to the museum, about 45 minutes later, we would have to walk around the museum. Our feet were so tired when we got there! We waited to get in until 4:30 when tickets were 1/2 price. (Yes, we are poor students...) The museum was very cool, but we didn't have enough time (or energy) to see it all. This is the entrance to the museum.
Leaving the museum, we were famished and using our AAA guide book found a restaurant to eat at, but when we arrived, the restaurant was not there! We don't know where it disappeared to, but we were so starving we ate at the restaurant next door which turned out to be a restaurant all about eggs. Oh well, anything is good when you're starving. The next day we slept in and then went to the zoo! We still love the zoo, and this was a very nice one. The weather on Saturday was beautiful, in the 4o's and it was nice to be outside. This is in front of the huge, most active elephants I've seen. (maybe it's the weather, all the animals were crazy) Our favorite part of the zoo was this monkey in the video below. He was following a turtle around in their exhibit, and then when the turtle would walk away, the monkey would jump on and ride him around! We have never seen anything so funny, but he did about 3 times. The poor turtle, I think he was just trying to get away. The video gets a glare for part of it, but hang on the monkey rides on through and you can see it well. We could not stop laughing!

We had a wonderful trip and we're happy to get a break from our very busy lives.

In other news, Tyler got put into Young Men's as a sports advisor and released as cub scout master. I just finished up my rotations at the hospital half-way between Rochester and Buffalo. It was great and I learned so much! I now have 2 weeks in Buffalo, and then the next 3 here in Rochester, yea! Although I feel like I should be somewhat embarassed, my professor in my Vitamins and Minerals class emailed me to say that I got a perfect score on the last test. It's exciting but at the same time very nerdy!! Oh well, all I can say is that BYU prepares you well for wherever you go after!
We are doing good and hope all our family and friends are too!

I've been curious how it went. Your pictures bring back a lot of memories! It looks like you had a blast! We loved the zoo also. We'd like to take the kids back there sometime too.

How fun! I didn't know you were going to Toronto. I love being in a new place. That tower looks cool and Ryan and I were laughing so hard at that monkey.
