Tyler surprised me for my birthday with a mini-vacation down to San Diego for the weekend. We headed down Friday afternoon, got stuck in traffic and so stopped for yummy Thai food in Oceanside. When we got to the hotel, Bridgette immediately broke in our beds with some good jumping.
First we took the bus tour around the zoo.
Bridgette loved it! She kept talking about what animals we saw on the bus and which ones we didn't. Looking at the giraffes with 2 babies, which turned out to be her favorite part.
That afternoon when we got back to the hotel, she drew a picture of the Mama giraffe and her baby. I loved this cute report on her day!
We saw the orangutans, complete with cute little baby.
The giant fat hippos were sleeping right by the glass.
She also loved the elephants.
We saw pretty much everything we wanted to see, including the cute pandas.
After a low-key dinner at Chick-fil-a, we shared a milkshake at a malt shop.
Bridgette kept saying, "I've never had a milkshake before!" She chugged that thing like nobody's business!
We had a super rough night at the hotel- Tyler and Penny were both sick with a cold, Bridgette took FOREVER to fall asleep and Penny kept waking up fussy and crying, and wanted to nurse all night. At one point, she slept with me in bed because she cried every time I put her down. I haven't done that since she was 2 months old! Poor little thing.
Tyler wanted to go home right away, but I decided if we endured the night from hell in the hotel, we were going to make it worth it! We drove over to Mission Bay and walked around the boardwalk for a little while. Then we stopped at the San Diego Temple on our way out of town. It was my favorite temple growing up and it is still so beautiful!
Penny's first shoulder ride.

Happy birthday!!! Looks like you all had a great time. Hotel rooms and babies don't mix well. We did the same thing the other night. Addy kept saying, "Daddy you need to get in your bed."
