Harrison turned 5 months old last week. He certainly has grown up these last few weeks! He has excellent head control, likes sitting in the Bumbo to look around (also makes him spit up), spends most of his time on his tummy kicking and looking at his sisters.
His teeth are tall now and he has the coordination to put toys in his mouth and chew on things.
He also got his first cold and cough. It wasn't too bad but one day while I was dressing him, I noticed his hands, feet and lower legs, as well as his lips were cold and had turned purple. It scared me because I didn't know if he wasn't getting enough oxygen because he was congested, or if something else was wrong, so I took him into the doctor. Everything turned out to be fine, which was a relief! Apparently when babies get sick, sometimes when their bodies focus on fighting the germs, it can causes poor circulation in their extremities- a response by an immature sympathetic nervous system. Once I bundled him up ridiculously warm for a 75 degree day, he was fine after a few hours. At the visit, his weight was 16 lbs 12 oz. I was surprised he'd gained so much from his last visit one month prior (15 lbs 1 oz).He is the happiest, sweetest guy and we all adore him!
