San Francisco

We had a trip planned for San Francisco before we found out we lost Amelia.  Tyler's mom was coming out to watch Bridgette, and we decided it would be good for us to get some time together and to have fun.  It was so hard to leave Bridgette behind, but it helped that she was being spoiled by her Grandma.
We drove up 7 hours, and first stopped at Muir Woods, the redwood forest.  It is amazing how huge these trees are!  The pictures seriously don't capture it well.  This is Tyler.
My "tree hugger" picture.  Tyler was too embarrassed to get one of him...
That night we drove over the bridge into the city.  We sat in traffic for 1 hour trying to get over the bridge!  We wanted to go into Chinatown, but just settled on going to Ghiradelli Square to a restaurant there and getting an awesome hot fudge sundae to split.
The next morning, we got into the city earlier to avoid the traffic.  We stopped at Pier 39, where the sea lions all live.  They are so cute and funny to watch.  (Don't mind my 80's ear muff thing, I couldn't find a hat and it was freezing!!)
Next we went on the tour of Alcatraz Prison.  It's a pre-recorded tour, so you look silly walking around with the headphones, but it was actually quite interesting.
This is the view of the city from the island.  Windy on top!
When we got back, we walked over to Fisherman's wharf and had sourdough bread and soup for lunch.  Mmmm...  Tyler loved his clam chowder, but I thought it was nasty!

We had another Ghiradelli sundae before we left (don't judge, they are way too good!).  We also drove down Lombard street, went up to Coit Tower, and had the same conversation over and over-"I could never drive a stick shift here..."

The next day we drove down to Monterey to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It was really cool, but didn't take nearly as long as we planned for.  Our favorite exhibits were the jellyfish and seahorses.
That night we ate at a delicious seafood place right on the bay.
We left early in the morning and were so happy to see Bridgie when we got home!  She immediately ran around showing us as many of her tricks and toys as she could.  I guess she had a lot to make up for.  Kelley took us out for pizza, since she needed a break too!   Overall, a fun trip for Tyler and I, and a happy spoiled baby at home, with one worn-out Grandma!

Looks like fun. And I can't believe how huge that tree trunk is. Looks like I need to take a trip there.
